Thank you for using Nova.
Your privacy is fundamental to everything we build. Nova has been designed around the principle that your financial information belongs to you. We do not sell your data, build advertising profiles, or monetise your personal financial information.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Nova processes, why it is processed, and how your information is protected.
By creating an account or using Nova, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Our Privacy Commitment
Nova was built with privacy first.
Our goal is simple:
- Your financial information belongs to you.
- We do not sell your information.
- We do not use your financial information for advertising.
- We only process information required to provide Nova’s features.
- You remain in control of your data.
2. Information You Provide
You may choose to provide information including:
- Name
- Email address
- Debts
- Savings goals
- Income
- Expenses
- Repayment plans
- Budgets
- Financial goals
- Payment history
- Recurring expenses
- Financial notes
This information is entirely optional and is only used to provide Nova’s functionality.
3. Bank Statement Analysis
Nova allows you to upload PDF bank statements to generate AI-powered financial insights.
When you upload a bank statement, Nova may analyse information such as:
- Income
- Spending
- Transactions
- Merchant names
- Categories
- Recurring subscriptions
- Bills
- Payment dates
- Spending trends
This analysis helps Nova automatically identify recurring expenses, build budgets, detect subscriptions, and provide financial coaching.
Your uploaded bank statements are processed only to generate the analysis you request. Nova does not permanently store your uploaded bank statements on its servers.
4. AI Processing
Nova uses artificial intelligence to help you understand your finances.
AI may be used to:
- Analyse spending
- Detect recurring expenses
- Categorise transactions
- Suggest repayment strategies
- Forecast debt completion dates
- Build repayment schedules
- Generate financial insights
- Answer financial questions through Nova Coach
AI responses are generated using the information you provide and may not always be accurate or complete.
Nova provides organisational and educational tools only and does not provide regulated financial advice.
5. Where Your Data Is Stored
Nova has been designed to minimise the amount of information stored centrally.
Your financial information remains under your control.
Depending on the features you use, your information may be stored:
- On your own device.
- Within your own authenticated Nova account if Cloud Backup is enabled.
Nova does not permanently store uploaded bank statements after they have been analysed.
6. Cloud Backup
If you choose to enable Cloud Backup:
- Your Nova data may be securely backed up.
- Backups are associated only with your authenticated Nova account.
- You may restore your backups at any time.
- You may disable backups whenever you wish.
- You may permanently delete your backups.
Cloud Backup exists solely to help you recover your own information across devices.
7. Authentication
Nova supports:
- Email & Password
- Sign in with Apple
- Sign in with Google
Authentication providers operate under their own privacy policies.
Nova never receives or stores your Apple or Google passwords.
8. Notifications
If enabled, Nova may send reminders such as:
- Bill reminders
- Debt payment reminders
- Savings reminders
- Goal milestones
- Subscription reminders
- Security notifications
Notifications can be disabled at any time within Settings.
9. How We Use Your Information
Information is processed only to:
- Operate Nova.
- Provide AI-powered financial insights.
- Analyse uploaded bank statements.
- Track debts and goals.
- Generate reports.
- Create repayment schedules.
- Detect recurring expenses.
- Synchronise backups.
- Improve app stability.
- Protect user accounts.
- Prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not use your financial information for advertising.
10. Information We Do Not Sell
Nova does not sell:
- Personal information.
- Financial information.
- Spending history.
- Income information.
- Debt information.
- Bank statements.
- AI conversations.
We do not share your financial information with advertisers or data brokers.
11. Security
Nova uses industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted network communication (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure authentication
- Password hashing
- Secure session management
- Access controls
- Security monitoring
While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, no system can guarantee absolute security.
12. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access your information.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your account.
- Delete your backups.
- Export your data.
- Withdraw consent where applicable.
You may also delete your Nova account directly from within the application.
13. Children’s Privacy
Nova is not intended for individuals under the age of 18 or the minimum legal age required in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect information from children.
14. Third-Party Services
Nova integrates with trusted third-party providers where necessary, including:
- Apple Sign-In
- Google Sign-In
- AI processing providers
- Cloud infrastructure providers
- Notification services
These providers process information only as necessary to deliver the requested functionality and are subject to their own privacy policies.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If significant changes are made, we will notify users within the app or by other appropriate means.
The latest version will always be available within Nova and on our official website.

By creating a Nova account or continuing to use the application, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to this Privacy Policy.
Nova is built on one simple principle: your financial information belongs to you. Our mission is to help you understand your money while keeping your privacy at the centre of everything we do.
1. Who we are & how to contact us
Nova is owned and operated by Abaas Abshir. For the purposes of applicable data-protection law, Abaas Abshir is the data controller responsible for the personal information processed through Nova, except where a third-party service acts as an independent controller.

2. Data we collect & why
We collect only what we need to provide Nova. The table below sets out each category, why we collect it, and whether it is linked to your account.

3. No targeted advertising & no data sales
Nova does not use your personal or financial data for targeted advertising. Nova does not sell your personal or financial information to data brokers or anyone else.
4. Third-party service providers
We use a limited set of trusted providers to operate Nova. We only list providers that genuinely receive user data:
- App Store (in-app purchases & subscription verification) — Processes in-app purchases and verifies subscription entitlements.
- Authentication providers (Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, and email sign-in) — Secure account sign-in.
- AI service provider — Powers AI insights, AI Coach and bank-statement analysis.
- Cloud hosting provider — Stores and processes your account data securely.
- Email provider — Sends transactional emails such as verification and password resets.
- Analytics / crash-reporting provider — Helps diagnose crashes and improve performance.
Subscription purchases and verification are handled through the App Store.
5. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide Nova. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations.
6. Security
Your information is associated with and protected within your own account, and Nova uses secure authentication. We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International processing
Your data may be processed by our providers in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we take steps to ensure your information continues to receive appropriate protection.
8. Account deletion & your rights
You can delete your account from inside Nova (Settings). Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us or see the Delete Account page.
9. Children's privacy
Nova is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
10. Your rights & complaints
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. If you are in the UK or EU and believe your data has been mishandled, you may lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
